Popular Menu Items

The commitment to quality ingredients cooked fast to order is what has gained Shake Shack a loyal following. The burgers are made with 100% natural Angus beef with no hormones or antibiotics. They use GMO free rolls as well.

Vegetarians will appreciate the Shroom Burger. It is delicious in its own right, not just an afterthought on the menu. Not in the mood for a burger? Check out the chicken and the hot dogs. Of course, you can always skip dinner and dive into an extra-large shake instead!

Here are some of the best items from the menu:

ShackBurger

This is the original burger that put Shake Shack on the map. It comes standard topped with cheese, lettuce, tomato and special ShackSauce™. If you have never been to Shake Shack before, this is a must try!

Shroom Burger

This vegetarian selection is not your average veggie burger pressed into a patty in a factory. Instead, it starts with a whole large portabella mushroom that is stuffed with muenster and cheddar cheeses before it is breaded and deep fried for a crunchy exterior. Even meat lovers may want to give this sandwich a try!

Chick’n Shack

This is not your average chicken patty. This cage free chicken is 100% natural with no antibiotics. The breast meat is then battered and fried to a golden brown. It comes standard with lettuce and pickles and a touch of buttermilk herb mayo.

Shack-cago Dog

Shake Shack started as a hot dog cart and with these dogs there is little doubt as to why they became so successful. They start with 100% hormone and antibiotic Vienna beef dogs that are split and fried on a griddle for a crisp exterior. They come served on a GMO-free bun with relish, onion, pickle, tomato, sport pepper, celery salt, mustard and a thin slice of fresh cucumber.

Frozen Custard Shake

The thick and rich frozen custard at Shake Shack is worth a special trip. Very popular with regular customers, this sweet treat is part of why Shake Shack is a family favorite. It comes in several flavors, but the Coffee Fair Shake is a best seller.

Shake Shack History

The original Shake Shack was opened in Madison Square Park as part of a redevelopment effort in 2000. It was little more than a fancy hot dog cart with much of the food being prepared in the kitchen of Eleven Madison, a nearby fine dining restaurant. The cart was incredibly successful, and Shake Shack won the bid to open a small kiosk in the park in 2004, the first location of Shake Shack, run by Danny Meyer.

Long lines characterized the business at Shack Shake almost daily. It quickly gained a reputation for amazing burgers and dogs, and expansion soon followed, starting mostly in New York. Fun Fact: one of the menu items at Shake Shack are the crinkle cut fries that are surprisingly frozen, not fresh. They tried to change to fresh cut fries in 2013 but customers balked and they returned to the frozen crinkle cuts within a year!
